TILA CHITUNDA

Director and screenwriter, Tila Chitunda creates projects that move between cinema and television, investigating memory, identity, and the cultural connections between Brazil and Angola — a legacy of her parents, Angolan refugees.

Living between Brazil and Switzerland since 2017, Tila is currently developing her first feature-length documentary, MONTREUX, a film that combines music and memory to offer an original reflection on the sociopolitical history of contemporary Brazil, through the perspectives of Brazilian artists who have performed at the celebrated Swiss festival since 1978.

Her short films have screened at more than 50 festivals in Brazil and abroad, earning 18 awards, including Best Brazilian Short Film at the É Tudo Verdade / It’s All True Festival (2018). In 2020, she was selected for the Convida Program organized by the Instituto Moreira Salles, under the supervision of filmmaker Kleber Mendonça Filho. Among her recent works are the series Cinéticas (2025), currently airing on Canal Curta!, and Toda Música (2025) and Makers (2026), both set to premiere in 2026.
